Astrological Transit

Astrological transits are one of the main means used in horoscopic astrology to forecast future trends and developments (the other means used is astrological progression, which progresses the horoscope forward in time according to set methods). As its name implies, astrological transits involve a method of interpreting the ongoing movement of the planets as they transit the horoscope. This is most often done for the birth or Natal Chart of a particular individual. Particular attention is paid to changes of sign, or house, and to the aspects or angles the transiting planets make with the natal chart.

A particularly important transit is the planetary return. This occurs when a transiting planet returns to

the same point in the sky that it occupied at the moment of a person's birth. What this means is that the

planet has completed a whole circuit of the sky, and signifies that a new cycle in the person's life is

beginning. The most significant returns are those of the outer planets Jupiter and Saturn. The Jupiter

return occurs approximately every 12 years and heralds a new phase of growth and development. The

Saturn return occurs approximately every 30 years, and heralds a new phase in the aging process when new realities and responsibilities must be faced.

Hostage-Taking in French Town Ends, Hostages Safe

One suspected gunman was found dead when a hostage-taking situation in the northern French town of Roubaix ended Tuesday night with the hostages being brought to safety, local officials said.

The prefect of the Nord region said all hostages were safe after the hours-long incident Tuesday night, during which the hostage-takers reportedly fired at police.

Prosecutor Frederic Fevre said one suspect was found dead in the house in a residential street where the hostage-taking had taken place and that a Kalashnikov assault rifle was also found there. At least one suspect who had tossed away his pistol was found outside the house and was detained, while a number of hostage-takers escaped, he said.

Fevre didn't specify how many were on the run or what had motivated the hostage-taking.

Local media reported the hostage-taking was not terrorism-related but the result of a possible robbery, although reports on the motive were conflicting.

Police special forces were deployed to the area and local roads were temporarily cordoned off during the incident.

Apparent suicide attack on Tunisian presidential guard bus kills 12

A bomb exploded on a bus packed with Tunisian presidential guards in the capital Tunis on Tuesday, killing at least 12 people in an attack one source said was probably the work of a suicide bomber.

Ambulances rushed wounded from the scene and security forces closed off streets around Mohamed V Avenue, one of the main streets in Tunis, before the president declared a curfew in the city and imposed a state of emergency nationwide.

It was the third major attack in Tunisia this year, after an Islamist militant killed 38 foreigners at a beach hotel in the resort of Sousse in June, and gunmen killed 21 tourists at the Bardo Museum in Tunis in March. Islamic State claimed both those attacks.

"They want to make us live with horror but we are going to bring that horror to the terrorist camps," President Beji Caid Essebsi said in a televised speech. "We are at war and we are going to win."

Security sources said the guards were boarding the bus to be taken to the presidential palace on the outskirts of the city when it blew up. One presidential source said it was likely that a bomber had detonated his explosive belt inside the bus.

At least 12 guards were killed and 17 wounded, according to an Interior Ministry statement.

If confirmed it was a suicide bomber, it would be the first such attack in Tunisia since October 2013 when an attacker blew only himself up on a beach in the resort town of Sousse.

"I was on Mohamed V, just getting ready to get into my car, when there was a huge explosion. I saw the bus blow up. There were bodies and blood everywhere," said bystander Bassem Trifi.

Essebsi cancelled a trip to Europe and said Tunis would be placed under curfew until Wednesday 5 a.m. (0400 GMT). He reinstated a month-long state of emergency, temporarily giving the government more executive flexibility, security forces more powers, and restricting some civil rights.

Mohamed V is a major boulevard usually packed with traffic and pedestrians, and the site of several hotels and banks.

Fighting Islamist militants has become a major challenge for Tunisia, a small North African country that was hailed as a blueprint for democratic change in the region after an uprising in 2011 ousted autocrat Zine Abidine Ben Ali.

Tunisia has held free elections and is operating under a new constitution and a broad political consensus, for which secular and Islamist parties have managed to overcome deep disagreements.

But several thousand Tunisians have also left to fight in Syria, Iraq and Libya with Islamic State and other militant groups, and some have threatened to carry out attacks at home.

The army has also been fighting against another Islamist militant group in the mountains near the Algerian border. Militants have attacked checkpoints and patrols in rural areas in the past.

In September, the government received intelligence reports pointing to possible car bombings in the capital and banned traffic in parts of the city.

This month, authorities arrested 17 Islamist militants and said they had prevented another major assault, planned for November, on hotels and security forces in Sousse.

ARIS TERROR – THE WORST ATTACK OF THE DECADE, OR JUST THE FIRST OF SEVERAL DURING A TIGHTENING URANUS-PLUTO SQUARE?

That’s right … it’s back. If you thought the Uranus-Pluto square energies were over when we passed their last exact contact, think again. Any long-term, lingering aspect that remains less than 6 degrees of exact will continue to make itself felt in both personal and mundane affairs. Uranus in Aries' brings radical change to cure the ills he perceives in the entrenched power establishment – Pluto in Capricorn. Pluto in Cap will burn down the forest to get to the rebel trees. But neither force seems to care, or even notice, the collateral damage they cause in the process.

Particularly when the Moon or a fast-moving planet (like Mercury, Venus, Sun, or Mars) “translates” the square's energies by (for instance, conjuncting Pluto while squaring Uranus), we see the conflicts flaring up anew.

Looking at the fact that Uranus and Pluto will stay less than 3 degrees away from an exact square to each other from now through April 2016 (even have less than a two degree orb at times!) many mundane astrologers have been expecting to see their violently conflicting energies show up in the world news.

WORSE THAN BEFORE?

But what’s even worse this time than the other 7 times the square tightened? Now, we also have a second, long-lasting, outer planet square in the sky – Saturn in Sag square Neptune in Pisces. This additional stress has complicated world events and given Uranus and Pluto even more conflicts to ignite into flames. Refugees who might be terrorists? People starving but with no where to go. Fearful nations wanting to help but terrified about who and what they might welcome in.

I EXPECTED TROUBLE, BUT WAS SURPRISED TO SEE AN ATTACK LIKE THE ONE IN PARIS SO SOON. Why? Because the most potentially-violent triggers to Uranus and Pluto won’t happen until the end of November through mid-December.

If I had to pick a most-likely date range for a serious terrorist incident, I would have picked December 5th through 10th. But the more I studied the planets' positions, the more I wondered if the entire next two months present an equally heightened, on-going risk.

DATES TO WATCH

Below are the dates with the most risk factors for world hostilities to escalate.

THEY WILL LIKELY IRRITATE US ON PERSONAL LEVELS, TOO, so check your chart (natal and synastry with loved ones!) for triggers at 7-8 degrees of Mutable signs and 13-17 degrees of Cardinal signs.

IN THE U.S. SIBLEY CHART, most of these stress points fall in Angular houses (which point to obvious, tangible events). The U.S. natal Sun, at 13 Cancer in the 7th house (of open enemies), is closely opposed by Pluto throughout this time period. The Sun rules the US 9th, house of foreign people and foreign relations.

LATE NOVEMBER RISK DATES:

* NOV 25 -- Full Moon at 3 Gemini on the 25th will mark Mercury's translation of the Saturn-Neptune square and kick off the SUN'S translation of that square (often as explosive as a Mars translation) when the Full moon itself translates the forming Sun-Saturn-Neptune square

* NOV 28-29 Moon translates Uranus-Pluto as the Sun translates Saturn-Neptune

***DECEMBER, GREATEST RISK***

*** DEC 6 -- Mars exactly squares Pluto on the SAME DAY that Moon translates the Uranus Pluto square, overnight on the 5th-6th

*** DEC 10 -- Mars finishes igniting the intensified square energy with its exact opposition to Uranus, on the SAME DAY that Moon translates the Saturn-Neptune square. New Moon early the next day.

** DEC 19-20 Moon and Mercury translate the Uranus-Pluto square on the same day

** DEC 25 Full Moon at 3 Cancer on the same day that Uranus stations direct (Uranus, Pluto, and Mars stations often mark the mid point of a week when society sees increase violence, hostility, and/or instability.)

JANUARY AND BEYOND

** JAN 5-7 Mercury in Aquarius stations Rx as it also squares Mars in Scorpio, and while the Sun translates the Uranus-Pluto square and Jupiter stations Rx, still within 3 degrees of the September Solar Eclipse.

** JAN 9 NEW MOON in CAP conjuncts Pluto, squares Uranus.

Since Mercury will retrograde into Capricorn, it will conjunct Pluto again on January 22. For most of January and February, Uranus and Pluto will remain less than two degrees away from an exact square, meaning the Moon will translate them powerfully (aspecting one and then the other in quick succession) once every week.

I don't see the Uranus-Pluto square energies calming down until at least mid-2016. But at that time, the Saturn-Neptune square will tighten again and Jupiter in Virgo will join them in a t-square. Messy world affairs will surely get messier. But we can ward off the effects on our own lives by knowing where these influences fall in our charts and cleaning our own house … before Saturn and pals come in to enforce that on us.
